  1. Volunteers needed to help clean up the Don Pedro Path from Dock to Beach.  Dates are Friday Oct. 6th and Monday, Oct. 9th, 2023 starting at 10 am. Work involves pulling weeds from path and trimming back overhanging branches/limbs.  Wear long sleeves/pants or shorts and tanks with plenty of DEET, hat, sturdy shoes/sneakers, and gloves. Bring limb loppers, pruning shears and a rake. Host will provide paper bags for weed disposal and removal. Also need 1-3 boats to transport volunteers. A Resident reported today that the dock has been compromised after Idalia and that it is unpassable without repairs. Rob Mathews reported earlier that the pier is scheduled to be replaced the week of Oct. 9. I will make an exploratory trip tomorrow or Wed., (Oct 4th or 5th) to assess whether it’s worth it to do a quick repair to get volunteers on island to get some clean up done in anticipation of re-welcoming residents, returning snowbirds, and guests directly after the pier repairs. If not, the cleanup will be rescheduled for after Oct. 14th. -Lu
